Welcome to You Might Have Missed, my weekly segment where I’ll be taking things back down memory lane and highlighting older songs that a lot of people either missed, forgot or overlooked. All of these tracks hold some type of special meaning to me, and I hope that you will find them enjoyable too. Let’s get started:
Clockwork is becoming one of the hottest names on everyone’s tongue in the world of electro house recently. His Squad Up EP and Titan EP, via Dim Mak and Mad Decent, helped expose his sound to a large audience and his tracks became a staple of many DJs sets. His first release on Beatport was the Elevated EP, which featured a great track titled Airflow. Airflow never got the play it deserved as Clockwork was relatively unknown at the time, but it’s pure electro house sound is just as good today as it was back in 2010 when it was released.

Next up, we have another track that was the artist’s first release on Beatport, this time coming from none other than Skrillex. Just over a year before his monumental Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites EP, this remix of his was included in the release of Casxio‘s Seventeen EP back in 2009. It’s interesting to compare how much his sound has changed in just 3-4 years; this remix has a bit of a French house / Nu Disco vibe sprinkled on top of electro house. It almost reminds me of an early version of Madeon or Mord Fustang‘s sound.

PeaceTreaty have grown and evolved a lot since their inception, despite this there are very few songs of their’s I’m not a fan of. One of my favorites of theirs is their Sierra Nevada remix of Afrojack & Bobby Burns’ Real High. I believe they first made this track as part of a contest trying to win a spot to play at Lollapalooza. Although they didn’t win, I thought their remix was the best of the bunch and it is an absolute banger in every sense of the word.
