Good morning, Universe! It’s that time again: midweek, Hump Day, whatever you want to call it. To help you kick the midweek blues and power on into the fun-filled weekend, check this amazing remix from none other than the Mad Liberator himself, GRiZ.

GRiZ (AKA Grant Kwiecinski), takes Lettuce’s out of this world cover of the classic WAR tune, ‘Slippin’ into Darkness’, and adds a massive dose of his own funktastic style. Lettuce’s bass and guitar riffs shine alongside the Detroit producer’s signature saxophone riffs. Though both the original and Lettuce’s cover are devoid of vocals, GRiZ incorporates the funk & hip-hop inspired vocal stylings of Jessica Breanne (lead vocalist for The Electric Hearts) into his remix; a bold move on his part, but that’s why he’s skyrocketing to the top, as the vocals work perfectly in the song’s arrangement. And of course, the breakdown is an irresistible blend of synth-funk basslines, pitched samples, and saxophone sexiness. Make sure to listen all the way to end, the last quarter of the track is an absolutely beautiful showcase of Grant’s saxophone skills and prowess as a producer.
