Vaski is one of those names that has been in the game for quite a while now, but for some reason isn’t as well-known as he should be. His unique brand of bass music has gained him supporting roles touring with Excision as well as headlining tours at major festivals around the world.
His newest creation, Weightless, comes as a bit of a deviation from his usual style. The vibes are much more laid back and the whole EP has a very strong Latin influence, especially in tracks like “Qua Cha” and “Last Night.” The whole project is characterized by amazing production and easy-going feels with just a touch of bass music. “Hakuna Matata” is unique in that, for most of the track, the bassline is accentuated and focused on in a way that not many electronic tracks have tried. The lead melody is also extremely original and tastefully arranged. “Weightless,” a collaboration with Beak Nasty, is an incredible track in its own right. The vocal hook is unbelievably catchy and the rhythm utterly drags you in.
If I had to compare this EP to anything, it would be a fine meal. This isn’t a release that you eat quick, pay and walk away — you are going to want to savor this one, as it leaves you wanting more.
