For a culture that advocates Peace, Love, Unity and Respect as much as ours, it still baffles me how many scenes like the one captured at Stereosonic come to light. In case you missed it, yesterday a video recorded by Jake Borri surfaced online which captured a rather extended all out brawl between festival attendees. The fight took place at Stereosonic’s Sydney leg and reached dangerous levels of animosity before getting broken by festival security. Now it’s unclear what started it all, but ultimately that doesn’t matter. What does matter is the fact that individuals who are supposedly in one location to enjoy music together have the sort of mindset that would result in the scene captured below. No matter what instigated the aggression, this display of violence should never be condoned. As a community, we should strive to mitigate these kinds of acts, as they further ostracize potential new fans of our music and culture.
