“For me, [albums] aren’t fun, they’re draining. When they’re done I’m glad, and when it comes out, my brain has been released to the universe!” – Felix Da Housecat
Despite finding albums anti-fun and stressful, Felix Da Housecat recognizes the opportunities available in a full-length release. He recently told Thump, “I’ve always been about albums, but in 1992 I said to myself, ‘no one is doing albums,’ and I wanted to tell a story…that’s always been my thing.” His newest album, Narrative of Thee Blast Illusion, is devoted to evocative lyrics and melodies rather than getting everyone to jump on the count of three. To further push the 11-track release, Da Housecat will be embarking on a world tour starting June 5th, starting in Berlin and globetrotting until August 7th in Barcelona.
Narrative of Thee Blast Illusion is out July 10th via No Shame, and is now available for pre-order on iTunes. After three years in the making, we already know this LP is going to be the cat’s pajamas. In the meanwhile, enjoy this first single off the forthcoming album, “Is Everything Ok?” It’s a pumping tune, evocative of Kavinsky’s “Nightcall” and a beautiful nod to the synthesized glory of the 80’s.
