In its continuing efforts to set itself apart from other streaming services, Spotify announced recently it would be expanding its platform to include video and podcast extensions, as well as a new fitness app called Spotify Running. With the new extension, Spotify can customize a playlist during a workout, using sensors to determine the user’s pace and selecting music to match the tempo. It will even integrate with Nike and Runkeeper running apps to help users track their workouts.
To promote the feature, Spotify enlisted dance music legend Tiësto to compose a special workout oriented album titled Burn to be included as part of the Spotify-curated playlist. With a running time of 41 minutes, Burn spans multiple genres within its 9 tracks, from progressive house to trap, and varies from down tempo to high energy and everything you’d need in between to complete your workout.
