The day has finally arrived, ladies and gentlemen. Another peek at the galaxy far, far away has just been uploaded to Youtube in the form of the first official trailer for J.J. Abrams’ upcoming film, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens.

Until today, the short teasers have done nothing but made us lurch backwards in our chairs, clawing at the sky in desperation for more information. Now, we’ve finally gotten enough of a fix to tide us over for a few more weeks until the official release on December 18th.

The official trailer is nothing short of heart-stopping. Personal, intimate looks at each of the main characters’ backstories, crucial and defining pieces of dialogue, up close looks at the locations and characters, a glimpse of Leia herself and a stunning new soundtrack are all featured prominently during its 2:20 run time.

Many action scenes that were previously hidden from the public’s eye emerged during the trailer, both on the ground and in the sky.

We hear from Finn, a stormtrooper who removes his helmet and questions his allegiance. Kylo Ren speaks to the mangled mask of Darth Vader, saying, “I will finish what you started.” Rey, a young nomadic girl, refers to herself as “no one.” The idea of Jedi and Sith appears to be a mere legend at this point in the future, until an aged Han Solo reveals their truth. HOLY S**T!

Watch the trailer below, and let a new wave of theories wash over you.
