There’s a new producer on the scene that’s ready to put South Africa on the dance music map. Though the country is known for it’s overwhelming sense of history, art, and culture, Africa has been one of the last regions to catch on to dance music. Though, this year saw the first Ultra: South Africa music festival, which featured headliner Martin Garrix.
Helping to bring the country into the spotlight is DJ/Producer Mike Kelly. His self-proclaimed “Dream House” is a similar to a mix between techno and deep house – laidback grooves with a subtle, but heavy bassline. Him and producer Sides have teamed up for a two-track EP that’s sure to help put your mind at ease this weekend. Both “One Night” and “Homeshake” have the same ambient elements, and only have the vocal sample on the former to really separate them. Upon listening to these two tracks, I’m instantly reminded of Anjunadeep artists Martin Roth, Vincenzo, or even Jon Monkman who are known for their stealthy house grooves. If artists like those are your style, I highly recommend you listen to the EP, which you can hear in full below, or pick up a copy on Beatport.
