With over 90 million views on YouTube, L.E.J (Elijay) has been owning the internet with classically inspired covers of the world’s most beloved music. Comprised of Lucie, Elisa, and Juliette, the L.E.J trio stemmed from an unlikely Facebook contest, and over the last two years has hastily risen to the forefront of French media. After filming a 2014 summer mash-up, the trio caught massive attention and received a storm of questions about an album and future performances. Now, L.E.J has followed up with a stunning compilation of 2015’s biggest tracks, and the result is nothing short of magical.

Lucie and Elisa provide a stellar vocals of smoke and honey, seamlessly blending a powerful interpretation of Pharrell Williams’ “Freedom” into Major Lazer’s blockbuster “Lean On.” David Guetta’s “Hey Mama” fits in beautifully with Juliette’s cello arrangement, and the trajectory takes an unexpected twist into a rapid-fire bilingual rap over Bigflo et Oli, Maitre Gims, and Kenji Girac. There are far too many nuances about the medley to try and describe, but the little snippets of OMI, Rihanna, and O.T. Genasis elevate the standard. L.E.J has easily claimed the prize of 2015’s most tasteful mash-up, and the raw acoustics of the performance set it apart from everything else we’ve heard. Check out more of the L.E.J trio here, and be sure to throw the ladies some love on their socials.
