After several less than palatable attempts at turning electronic dance music into a hollywood blockbuster, it seems Netflix is trying their hand at an original film to capture the magic of dance music.
Titled XOXO, the film is a story of a DJ getting a last minute shot to perform at the biggest EDM festival in America, XOXO, and an adventurous group of friends go on a journey to get him to the stage. And to ensure the utmost authenticity, the film’s Co-Producer and Music Supervisor is none other than the legendary Pete Tong.
Tong’s past music supervision includes his own All Gone Pete Tong series, BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix, 24 Hour Party People, and more. With him at the helm, we have faith that XOXO won’t succumb to the same fate as We Are Your Friends. Set for an August 26th release, not much has been divulged about the film just yet, but Christopher Louie will be directing, and Graham Phillips, Sarah Hyland, and Chris D’Elia will be starring.
“XOXO follows six strangers whose lives collide in one frenetic, dream-chasing, hopelessly romantic night.”
