This morning, we reported that YouTube page Proximity had teased something big regarding legendary trio Swedish House Mafia in 2017. Whether this was a reunion, a tour, a new track or something else entirely wasn’t specified – it only stated their name, the year, and a new image.

In the last hour and a half, the article and image have been shared thousands of times – enough to catch the attention of Axwell Λ Ingrosso’s team who have issued the following statement:

“At this point we’re not planning on reuniting and we have really no further comments on what the future for SHM looks like.”

There are a couple of things to consider with this statement. First, the Proximity teaser didn’t mention a reunion explicitly, so the statement isn’t necessarily refuting anything, either. Second, Proximity has a history of being on the cutting edge of dance music news, having premiered and shared various high profile tracks and videos in the past. It is doubtful that he would share news like this on a whim or as a troll, and Axwell Λ Ingrosso’s statement doesn’t exactly go to extremes to rule out the rumors.

It is true that no one officially involved with the Swedish House Mafia team has confirmed these rumors. However, it is not exactly a large leap of faith to think that something is happening in 2017. When anything is “officially” confirmed, our readers will be the first to know.
