After the success of her massive trap anthem “Faces” last month, I totally expected Candyland to continue in the same vein with her next release. However, the Cali-based talent decided to take another direction entirely with her followup Monstercat release “Touch Me.”
Candyland has released a slew of house tunes in the past, but never one quite like this. “Touch Me” pays homage to house classics like “Show Me Love” by Robin S. with its deep club break and soulful vocals, all while infusing the modern sounds of bass house. The overall sound of the song isn’t cheap, but still remains relatively commercial (a type of sound Monstercat needs every now and then).
Along for the ride is Brazilian up-and-comer RICCI, who is making his Monstercat debut with this collaboration. We have featured RICCI in the past on our SoundCloud, so seeing him pushing to a big label is especially thrilling. “Touch Me” might be his first Monstercat release, but hopefully it won’t be his last.
