The Chainsmokers made a lot of history with their #1 hit “Closer,” but their new hit “Paris” is already looking to go ever further. For starters, “Paris” debuted on Billboard’s Hot 100 charts at #7, the highest debut for The Chainsmokers yet. (“Closer” debuted at #9.)
According to Billboard,
“The song, released Friday, Jan. 13 (and accompanied by an official lyric video), enters Digital Song Sales at No. 2 (92,000); Streaming Songs at No. 9 (14.6 million); and Radio Songs at No. 32 (37 million). The duo earns its fourth Hot 100 top 10 and bests the No. 9 debut of “Closer” for their highest arrival. Also notably, the act has also ranked in the Hot 100’s top 10 for 38 consecutive weeks, thanks to “Paris,” “Closer” and the No. 3-peaking “Don’t Let Me Down” (featuring Daya). The record among duos or groups: 48 straight weeks in the top 10 for Ace of Base in 1993-94. Perry holds the overall mark: 69 weeks in a row in 2010-11.
