Instagram Stories, the live photo-sharing feature that some argue was taken from smartphone app Snapchat, has officially surpassed the original application in daily viewers. This week, Instagram Stories received 200 million daily users, with Snapchat only receiving 161 million.
As Mac World reports, it took Snapchat three years to obtain its first 100 million users, whereas Instagram’s alternative feature received the same amount just two months after its October 2016 debut.
Despite Instagram’s near identical versions of Snapchat’s original lineup of features and their recent lead over the app in daily users, the app continues to stand as a viable competitor to the consistently expanding social media giant.
