The Chicago duo Louis The Child have absorbed unprecedented success as electronic music’s first-rate underdogs. Their singles “Fire,” “Weekend,” and especially “It’s Strange” have become the gateway sounds for newer electronic dance music fans while solidifying their presence with their latest work on their Love Is Alive EP. The success of that EP has now spawned many remixes that include a special one from Canadian electronic musician Chet Porter.
Although he previously remixed “It’s Strange,” Chet Porter returns to add his vision of “Love is Alive.” In his take, Porter transforms the future-bass single into dream-pop majesty. Elohim’s vocal performance works once again with her sugary-sweet singing while buzzing bassline provides a firm backbone for this tracks otherwise ethereal and bubbly nature. In a lot of ways, this remix is reminiscent of what Porter Robinson was doing on his debut album Worlds while adding a blissful, tropical flavor into the production.
