It is with a heavy heart we share the news that drum & bass legend Apex has passed away.

Born Robert Dickeson and from Kent, England, Apex has been a fixture in the drum & bass community for more than a decade. Before his solo career as Apex, he was part of a duo called Unknown Error that had releases on Renegade Hardware, Horizons, and more.

He began his career as Apex in 2007 with a release on Hospital Records. In the same year Apex was part of establishing the label Lifted Music with Chris Renegade, Spor, Evol Intent, and Ewun.

Late last year and early this year, he created a new alias under Robert Oaks and released four tracks via Mau5trap His track “On The Run” was played by Deadmau5 on his Radio 1 show and also featured on the Mau5trap ’16 compilation.

While he was working under the Robert Oaks alias, he was also working on another experimental alias, Midnight Lamp, through which he released a debut album called Coming Home on 20 July 2017. His Robert Oaks EP My Shadow was also released in July 2017.

We're very sad to say that our talented friend and artist Robert Oaks passed away this weekend. Our thoughts are with his loved ones.
