Following the unfortunate departure of Billy the Gent, the now-solo act Gent & Jawns is back – and as strong as ever – with a new single.
Gent & Jawns is definitely a name that carries some serious legacy in the world of electronic trap music (the iconic “Butter’s Theme” came out a full five years ago), but the project has definitely undergone some challenges getting back on its feet this year with Billy gone.
In the midst of these challenges, Gent & Jawns seems to have found a home on Monstercat, with confirmation of a full EP dropping soon on the label.
The EP’s title track – “The Meaning” – is out now, and is an absolutely triumphant return for Jawns. The project is everything a fan could want from the project’s modern incarnation, featuring booming trap beats, smooth future bass leads and some epic – if perhaps slightly creepy – vocal sampling.
Don’t take it from me, though. Listen to “The Meaning” for yourself:
