Rumors have been swarming that Mysteryland USA will be cancelled this year, and now we have yet another confirmation that it’s sadly true.

Earlier this week, a reliable industry source told EDM ID that the festival did not gain the hype it needed, and ultimately didn’t reach the ticket sales required to cover costs. Additionally, a Reddit thread discussion sparked insight from one of the performers, Ekali, who said the festival wasn’t happening in a since-deleted post.

Just today, Dancing Astronaut also confirmed the speculation: “In response to enduring speculation and rumor mongering, Dancing Astronaut has reached out to a source from inside the festival, who–speaking on the condition of anonymity–confirmed that Mysteryland has been cancelled for 2017. The festival is to make an official announcement sometime this weekend, but is unlikely to reveal the cause of cancellation.”

It’s heartbreaking news for the festival goers who were stoked to see LCD Soundsystem, Major Lazer, G-Eazy, Big Gigantic, Die Antwoord, Porter Robinson, RL Grime, Run the Jewels, and so many more amazing acts on the legendary Woodstock grounds. Some are speculating that Mysteryland USA’s choice to curate a lineup catered to a “Coachella” type crowd, rather than the EDM centric artists it’s been known for, could have led to its ultimate demise. Or, at least for this year.

Check back for more updates, as an official announcement is expected soon!
