The late Chester Bennington was honored at the American Music Awards ceremony as Linkin Park accepted the title of “Favorite Alternative Rock Artist” and dedicated it to their legendary lead singer.

Co-frontman Mike Shinoda, drummer Rob Bourdon and guitarist Brad Delson all accepted the award on the band’s behalf. The most emotional acceptance speech from the AMAs can be seen below.

Linkin Park said:

We want to dedicate this award to him, to his memory, to his talent, to his sense of humor, to his joy. Remember, you guys — all of you, tonight — whether you’re a fan or an artist, I want you guys to take a moment to appreciate what you’ve got and make Chester proud. Thank you guys so much.

The AMAs were a night of ups and downs for Linkin Park. Apparently the band had a problem with their credentials and were almost kicked out of the awards show before things got sorted out. They enjoyed the show for a while with temporary passes before being questioned all over again. It’s all captured below.

Congrats to Linkin Park and Chester!
