Spring Awakening and Lollpalooza got into an epic meme battle today. Although the online spat was short lived, it was entertaining nonetheless.
It all started when Spring Awakening decided to poke some fun at the rival Chicago festival Lollapalooza, seemingly out of the blue. The original meme compares the two in Spongebob Squarepants terminology, SA being the Krusty Krab and Lolla being Chum Bucket.
Realistically, yeah, Spring Awakening has a fire EDM-focused lineup, but it’s hard to compare the two considering Lollapalooza brings in some of the biggest names in music from all types of genres. Other than the fact that both music festivals go on in the same city, comparing the two doesn’t make much sense.
Nevertheless, Lollapalooza fired back with a cheeky response of its own. The Shutterstock proof below features a mother figure petting her son’s head and the caption is perfect — “aww what a clever meme.”
Just when it looked like Lollapalooza would win sweet meme victory, Spring Awakening replied with another hilarious reply. The dude below says it all.
