I’ll be the first one to tell you that house just isn’t my thing. When I first got into the scene, I was listening to drum & bass, and house just never really spoke to me. However, I will also be the first to admit that there are exceptions to every rule. What we have here is an exception from ak9 remixing Tritonal and Paris Blohm’s enormous track ‘Colors.’
The differences between the tracks are subtle, but ak9 does a wonderful job of differentiating himself from the original. The drop is instantly more melodic and less punchy. There’s a greater feeling of flow when the bassline sways in this way as opposed to the oscillation in the original.
Now, my bias might be starting to show – when it comes to reviewing house, I find it to be a bit of a task because of my unfamiliarity with it. But far be it from me to not recognize a good track when I hear it. Regardless of what I can say about the track, in the end it will still speak for itself and in that regard, I assume it will flourish.
