Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival raised its attendance cap from 99,000 to 125,000 for 2017… But logistically, how is the fest making room for so many more attendees?
According to Indio’s Community Services Manager, Jim Curtis, the main thing is accommodating more guests on the Empire Polo grounds.
“People staying on-site is always good for us. It’s great for traffic, great for the community,” he said.
Ride sharing systems, a temporary traffic light on Avenue 50, and road closures will streamline the flow of traffic and hopefully make the surge in attendance manageable.
Big changes are coming to both Goldenvoice festivals this year after Indio’s City Council approved the expansions. Stagecoach is also jumping from 75,000 to 85,000 people.
