Prepare your ears; things are about to get funky as all get out. Everyone’s favorite musical dinosaur, Mochipet, recently teamed up with The Untz Ableton LiveDJ TechTools, and several others to host a remix contest for his influential glitch album, Psilocybin Samurai. With a panel of judges including bass music staples like Ill Gates and Z-Trip, the search was on for emerging talent in the realm of experimental dance music.

What Mochipet and the judges received was inspiring, to say the least. Over twenty stellar tracks from up & coming music makers all across the country made the cut, with recreations ranging from glitch-hop to breaks and mid-tempo. While the grand prize went home with newcomer, Pockitz (who was later discovered to be 1/2 of renowned duo Love & Light), there’s legitimately not a bad tune on this release. Each of these producers put a ton of work into their remixes, making sure their distinct styles were displayed and that there wouldn’t be a dull moment to be found.

Standout Tracks: ‘Psilocybin Samurai’ (Timmy Tutone), ‘Cractal Frunk’ (Soohan), ‘Princess Monomenoke’ (Psy Fi), ‘Hati Babi Bungkus’ (Subatomica & DJ Swamp)

So, if you’re looking for quality bass music, Psilocybin Samurai Remixed will certainly keep your ears occupied for a while. The album is available in full on Mochipet‘s Bandcamp for just one dollar; a steal of a deal! Check it out after the jump and be sure to support these hard-working artists.
