The best of two worlds collide in the form of a remix that catches many of us by surprise. The Caracal Disclosure single “Omen” that features Sam Smith has seen a variety of remixes from the likes of Claude VonStroke and Claptone. Now its latest incarnation comes from the mind of electronic dance music’s class clown Dillon Francis.
According to the description of the remix, Dillon Francis shares that he wanted to have the same vibe as his collaborative track with Kygo and James Hersey off of Dillon’s This Mixtape Is Fire EP. In many aspects, this new remix of “Omen” shares many similarities with “Coming Over”. From chopping and warping the vocals into high and low pitches to the utilization of stretched synths, Dillon strives towards that new direction in his sound we heard in “Coming Over”.
Unlike that previous track, however, Dillon Francis’ remix to “Omen” ramps things up to a more upbeat bpm and goes lands with a more aggressive product. This leaves us with a comparable result to what we’ve heard in his most recent remixes. This includes his remixes of “Some Chords” by deadmau5, “Runaway (U&I)” by Galantis, and “Nuclear” by Zomboy where his production takes an arguably “harder” direction than some of his most recent original works.
In short, the Dillon Francis remix to “Omen” by Disclosure is something all Dillon fans will crave and something Disclosure fans might wan to look into if they want to venture into a tenacious spin on a single they’ve been bopping their heads for a few months now. Until its official release sometime next week, check out the preview below and make up your own mind on this fresh remix.
