‘Say you’ll never let me goooo….’ You’d almost certainly be lying to yourself if you said that you possessed the magical powers needed to hear that catchy chorus and somehow get it out of your mind in an instant. In any case, The Chainsmokers were rewarded for penning one of the catchiest hooks of 2015 by finally dethroning the chart beast that is “Lean On.”
“Roses” is the second Billboard No.1 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart with their first viral single “#SELFIE” reaching the top for two weeks in spring 2014 as pointed out by Billboard’s Gordon Murray. “Roses”, which features vocals from vocalist Rozes, also reaped a second straight hat trick with top Airplay, Digital, and Streaming Gainer status among all Hot Dance/Electronic Songs. Climbing up four percent, the track racked in 39 million all-format audience impressions as well as selling 59,000 digital downloads (up 46%), and drawing 5.7 million U.S. streams (up six percent) according to Nielsen Music – all in the space of a week!
“Roses” is also the top charting Dance/Electronic Digital Songs for the sixth week and also sits number three on both Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs and Dance/Mix Show Airplay. On the all-encompassing behemoth that is the Billboard Hot 100, “Roses” has risen into the top 20 and is approaching their previous Hot 100 peak of No. 16 set by “#SELFIE”.
