Stellar song selection paired with spectacular mixing is something that I never have to doubt in deadmau5 to bring to the table. Not being bombarded by festival bangers every now and then is nice, but listening to a true master of mixing – one that can take you on a journey through sound – is a nice break from the “play as many hard-hitting tracks as I can within a 1 hour time slot” mentality.

This past Saturday, deadmau5 closed out the Ultra main stage in Tokyo, Japan, dropping 3 IDs as well as finishing his set with “Faxing Berlin,” a track he admittedly rarely ever plays. Around 14:50 we hear the first unreleased ID other than the “3 Pounds Of Other Stuff” track, which starts around the 8-minute mark and was premiered back at the Ultra Miami live stage when Joel filled in for The Prodigy.

deadmau5 is always looking for a good time with his fans, whether that be through video games, Twitter or even at festivals. Around the 46:40 mark, Joel brings a huge fan on stage that had worn the same shoes, had the same tattoos and even a mau5 mask similar to Joel’s. Joel jokingly said “Alright guys my stunt double is here I’m out. You know what you’re doing right?” After the stunt double leaves around the 47:50 mark Joel proceeds to play out his most recent 9-minute long ID premiered at the Ultra Singapore.
