Vine Founder Reveals New Video-Looping App, “Byte”

Twitter announced that it was shutting down viral video app Vine in 2016, to the dismay of millions. Then, toward the end of 2017, Vine founder Dom Hofmann teased Vine’s return, or some successor to it, with a simple tweet, “v2.” The tweet has since been deleted.

Now, at the end of 2018, we have our answer: Byte.

The new looping video app with apparently arrive in spring 2019. How it will differ or improve upon Vine, if it does at all, remains to be seen. What we do know is that in the current culture of lightning fast memes and TikTok’s growing presence, a Vine successor is sure to breed the next generation of creators and influencers.

Stay tuned for Byte’s arrival next year.
