The guessing game is over. Tomorrowland has confirmed that Charlotte de Witte was behind the anonymous Mainstage slot that had fans speculating for weeks ahead of the festival’s Weekend 1 kickoff. The Belgian techno legacy took the stage for a 19:40–20:40 set on July 19, closing out one of the most talked-about mysteries of this year’s 21st edition, a lineup twist that generated buzz alongside the last-minute pyrotechnics ban imposed by local officials in Boom and Rumst due to ongoing heat and drought concerns.
De Witte’s return to Tomorrowland’s Mainstage carries extra weight given her history there. The KNTXT label boss made headlines last year for both opening and closing the Mainstage in the same day, and her connection to the festival stretches back over a decade to her earliest performances under the Raving George alias. Tomorrowland broke the news of her surprise slot in its official Tomorrowland Daily newspaper, distributed on-site and to nearby residents, with de Witte reflecting on how far her career has come since first playing the stage in 2011.
Her addition only strengthens what was already a massive bill for Weekend 1, which brings together more than 500 artists across 16 stages, including names like FISHER, Indira Paganotto, Martin Garrix, Sara Landry, NERVO, John Summit, and Calvin Harris.
