What an interesting and unexpected duo to team up for a dance music film. Zac Efron (does he really need an introduction?) will act in the upcoming film We Are Your Friends as DJ, however this film is shaping up to be much more than a “follow this DJ” movie. The content, provided in part by Max Joseph of Catfish who co-wrote and directed the project, will run much deeper into the realm of drama and I’m sure comedy. In trying to make it big, there’s a lot that a DJ must go through, which includes relationships of friendship and love, as well as the dynamics of an apprenticeship and much more. Although the film won’t come out until next year, you can get a taste of it through the first look we have below.
“It’s set in the worlds of electronic music and the Hollywood nightlife, where an aspiring 23-year-old DJ named Cole spends his days scheming with his childhood friends and his nights working on the one track that will set the world on fire.
All of this changes when he meets a charismatic but damaged older DJ named James who takes him under his wing. Things get complicated, however, when Cole starts falling for James’ much younger girlfriend, Sophie. With Cole’s forbidden relationship intensifying and his friendships unraveling, he must choose between love, loyalty, and the future he ‘We Are Your Friends’ is expected to make its debut on the big screen in 2015, so in the meantime, those interested can check out some behind-the-scenes footage for the movie.“
