Get It by Worthy is a refreshing break from the norm and makes for a fitting first release of the new year. Having made his name on Dirtybird this up and comer is staying true to his roots with this future bass gem. Those without subs might be a bit disappointed in the lack of an over compressed thump-y house kick, but believe you me, the 808 style kick hits deep and funky.
True to twerk, deep, and tech influences the 808 percussion is well laid under a bed of a well executed vocal chop line. The vibe is set with plenty of ambient pads; for those not familiar with this sort of music, the magic is in the rhythm – don’t look for any cheesy melodic hooks, you won’t find any. A very solid release from Worthy whose been doing his thing, and doing it well, regardless of the trends.
