Die Antwoord has been uncharacteristically vocal as of late, calling out Suicide Squad for ripping off their style, and hyping fans for their new album Mount Ninji And Da Nice Time Kid, among other things.
Now, Yo-Landi Vi$$er has taken to Instagram to post her latest thoughts regarding the new LP, and the lengthy writeup boasts a couple previously unknown details.
Yo-Landi explains that her personal relationships had a serious effect on her writing for Mount Ninji, and goes on to describe the impact of America’s culture on the new album, though Die Antwoord’s South African roots are nowhere close to being lost amongst the singular American influence. Even Cypress Hill’s DJ Muggs took part in producing the new album, which Yo-Landi describes to be:
“like a super natural romantic dark apocolyptic futuristic adventure album. & it feels like a ZEF patchwork blanket of blood, tears, memories, secrets, love, heart ache, magick & dreams glued & stitched together with african roots & american slambam.”
