After a string of recent releases from Getter under his rap/hip hop alias Terror Reid, he’s back in the bass realm with a new single called “Solo,” featuring vocals from Party Nails.

The single follows a more recent trend of longer songs from bass artists, like Jauz’s “Meant To Love You,” as well as perhaps demonstrating more of a melodic inclination toward songwriting and overall presentation. This is not the headbanging Getter that we once knew; in fact, there isn’t anything you would call a drop for more than two minutes into the track.

What we get at the drop are some minimal bass patches, accompanied by a greater emphasis on melody and arrangement than anything else.

Considering this and the Jauz release, could we see a new trend of bass producers softening up? Two examples isn’t exactly conclusive in any way, but it’s an interesting question to be asking right now…
