Manchester’s biggest queer block party is officially back on the calendar. Homobloc will take over Depot Mayfield on Saturday, September 26, marking its seventh edition and, for the first time, an early-autumn slot instead of its usual late-year date. Running from 5pm through 4am, the event brings together roughly 10,000 attendees across a lineup built almost entirely around house, techno, and club culture, a real showcase of dance music’s queer roots rather than a Pride festival with music as a side note. 
Headlining this year is Kim Petras, joined by a genuinely stacked electronic bill: a back-to-back set from Honey Dijon and Derrick Carter, a Manchester debut from collective S.A.S.S. (Saoirse, Moxie, Peach, and Shanti Celeste), plus Job Jobse, Palms Trax, Horse Meat Disco, Erol Alkan, I.Jordan, LSDXOXO, and Gina Breeze, among others. The festival spans five stages in total, Depot, Concourse, and Archive as the main rooms, with the historic Star & Garter pub and a brand-new 1,000-capacity space called Vault rounding things out.
Beyond the music, this edition carries extra weight: Homobloc is celebrating 35 years of FLESH, the legendary queer club night that launched at The Haçienda and helped shape Manchester’s dance music scene as it’s known today. The Homodolls performance program also returns, bringing over 150 performers across drag, dance, and immersive theatre into every corner of the venue.
Tickets have already been moving fast, pre-sale opened July 9, with general sale following on July 10 via homobloc.co.uk, where remaining tickets are still available. With a lineup this deep in genuine house and techno talent, Homobloc is shaping up to be one of the standout dance music events of the UK’s autumn calendar.
