Everyone knows Diplo, but probably not enough people know about Converse‘s Three Artists, One Song series. I think the name is pretty self-explanatory, but filling in those three slots this time are Diplo, Frank Ocean and Mick Jones with Paul Simonon who are representing The Clash. March 10th is the release date for their collaboration on “Hero” which Diplo made a little teaser announcement about last night. Today the full fledged promulgation occurred with Diplo publishing this statement:
“The Clash were always teachers to me, even before I shared a studio with Paul and Mick. Their musical anarchy and constant attitude to disregard rules and forge their own path was inspirational to me. They meant death to genres, music and message above everything. Frank lives by the same creed in being married to his vision and seeing it through at any cost. We had to challenge each other to make something that we hope no one could expect and Converse valued everyone’s artistic freedom to let us shine throughout the past few months to make this thing happen.”
Converse has mustered up some A-list collaborators before like Kid Cudi, Andre 3000, Santigold, Gorillaz and Pharrell. The list continues and in the future it will only grow larger with people who’s musical impact will be legendary. Be there on the 10th for the release of what is expected to be one of the biggest singles of the year in the entire music scene.
