Prolific UK music festival Glastonbury recently shared that they will be implementing a new ticket purchasing system for their 2025 installment. The aim of the new ticketing system is to make the ticket purchasing process fairer and simpler. The new approach involves a virtual queue system where each visitor on the page randomly gets assigned a number when sales go live. This system aims to remove some of the strain on the server, as well as frantic refreshing of the page.
So, how does it actually work? Well, when ticket sales go live (18:00 for the Coach Package on 14 November and 09:00 for General Admission on 17 November) visitors on the ticketing page will be assigned a place in the queue at random. Each ticket purchaser will have a progress bar which illustrates how near or far they are from the booking page. If anyone logs onto the ticketing page after sales open they will automatically go to the back of the queue.
There are a few things to take note of too. Ticket purchasers should not refresh the page or use numerous tabs as this will place them at the back of the queue. Additionally, anyone looking to buy a ticket should still pre-register beforehand.
The 2025 edition takes place across five days from Wednesday, 25 June – Sunday, 29 June at Somerest in South West England. As with many music festivals recently, Glastonbury’s ticket sales have also increased. General admission tickets will now cost £373.50, in addition to a £5 booking fee.
