UNTER STRØM steps into the spotlight with their debut single ‘Orynth’, landing via renegade imprint Breathing Records and immediately setting the tone for a project built on intensity, atmosphere, and boundary-pushing electronic design.
The duo brings together Alex Gonzales (Matte Blvck) and John Kunkel (The New Division, John Grand), two long-time sound innovators whose individual paths have already carved strong identities across darker electronic and melodic club spaces. UNTER STRØM emerges from that shared history with a clear mission: to push techno, melodic house, and industrial sound design into more cinematic, uncharted territory.
The result is a sound that sits between warehouse pressure and widescreen emotion, brooding, immersive, and built for both club systems and deeper listening contexts. For Gonzales, whose work with Matte Blvck has seen him build a strong live following across the US, and Kunkel, whose John Grand alias has earned support from leading figures like Armin van Buuren on A State of Trance, a globally broadcasted radio show and livestream, showcasing the latest in trance and progressive electronic music. The project represents a natural evolution of their darker sonic instincts.

Written during an intense creative run, the track began with Gonzales laying its foundation before Kunkel expanded it into a fully formed sonic narrative, layering evolving textures, stretched atmospheres, and melodic detail that gradually builds tension and release.
