Adele’s “25” Is Currently The Most Successful Album Of All Time

Adele Releases Her Next Big Hit, But We’re Just Waiting For The Remixes

Adele’s newest album has already shattered two of the most impressive previous records that it could have shattered. In its first week on sale (which isn’t even over yet), 25 has sold three million copies.

First, it completely obliterated the previous record for single-week album sales record for a female artist by Britney Spears (Oops!…I Did It Again, with 1.32 million). Then, it broke *NSYNC’s industry record of 2.42 million records sold in a single week (No Strings Attached).

25 was released on Nov. 20 through XL/Columbia Records, so its one-week tracking isn’t even over yet. How far will it go?

To put some perspective on things, “Where Are Ü Now,” the single from Jack Ü and Justin Bieber, which was released in February of this year, has only gone 2x Platinum (or, more than two but less than three million copies sold). It seems that as much as we like to think that EDM is becoming mainstream, and there’s no doubt that it is, it still can’t hold a candle to the power behind Adele.
