Insomniac head Pasquale Rotella took to the airwaves this evening to reveal the complete lineups for eight of Electric Daisy Carnival‘s most acclaimed stages coming this June. From the kineticFIELD – adorned with this year’s “Gaia” theme – to the now-fireproof bassPOD, each of the festival’s iconic platforms were discussed in detail before their respective rosters were unveiled via a hectic live mashup of the artists’ corresponding tracks.
First on the block was the cosmicMEADOW, known for its expansive grass field and endlessly wide stage production. Rotella said that in 2017, the stage would be extended even further out to the sides and curved in towards the audience. “It feels like the stage is hugging you,” Rotella said before dropping into the lineup mix. The roster will hold 26 acts over the three-day weekend, including a mix of both DJs and live acts.

Next up is neonGARDEN, the undisputed haven for EDC’s massive following of house heads. The stage will be hosted by Nicole Moudaber’s own MoodZONE on Friday, June 16; Ibiza-based event promotion company Pardise on Saturday, June 17; and Adam Beyer’s techno label Drumcode on Sunday, June 18. As Rotella described during the radio broadcast, neonGARDEN will represent authentic warehouse vibes throughout the weekend, with only the best deep house, tech house and techno available. There will no bells and whistles, Rotella said, just raw rhythms and an underground atmosphere.

For years, the acclaimed wasteLAND stage has been home to some of the gnarliest hardstyle and hardcore acts in the game. The stage’s design is based in a new city every year – albeit demolished and rampaged by some sort of monstrosity – and this time is no different. According to Rotella, wasteLAND attendees will be transported to Cairo, Egypt this round. Whether or not the stage will come equipped with some sort of ancient mummy plague is yet to be seen.

One of the most treasured stages in the EDC bracket has always been the bassPOD, a place for headbangers of all backgrounds to join forces in a ring of fire for three days off all-out carnage. Last year, one of the stage pieces caught fire between Excision and Andy C’s sets, causing temporary evacuations and delays. This year, Rotella said, they’ve fireproofed the entire set up.

Sixth on the agenda this evening was the upsidedownHOUSE, a stage introduced during 2016 for a two-day takeover of the Speedway. Coming as a host to the festival’s yearly Discovery Project, wherein up and coming DJs compete for a performance spot alongside the genre’s biggest names, the stage’s success has warranted it an expanded presence in 2017. This time, the upsidedownHOUSE will be up and running all three days, providing a diverse and intimate listening experience for attendees of all tastes.

As far as straightforward stage production goes, the circuitGROUNDS has consistently stood as the festival’s shining beacon. With miles of LEDs, screen panels, lasers, smoke and fire, the stage’s 2016 makeover saw the space transformed into a wild chasm of energy and sound. This year, the stage is set to host a whirlwind lineup of acts from far across the spectrum of genres. Drawing in the heaviest hitters from their respective styles, the circuitGROUNDS roster is a true dance music all-star team.

Lastly, Rotella revealed the official theme behind the “Mother” of EDC: the kineticFIELD. The iconic stage design of the festival’s crowning glory has, for years, stood as a symbol for the entire experience of attending EDC. In 2017, Rotella said the main stage will be transformed into the “Gaia Kinetic Hall.” Owl guardians will be situated on either side of the massive arena, surrounding a central statue of the Kinetic Gaia herself. The stage will even hold “four compasses” that connect with owl communities around the world, perhaps referring to the global live streams seen during last year’s event.
