Steve Angello reveals Swedish House Mafia won’t release second album

DJ and producer Steve Angello, recently shared that Swedish House Mafia has decided not to release their second album. Steve revealed the news in a recent interview with Billboard, where he was also promoting his new single ‘Hooligans’.

In the interview Steve said; “We had an album, we scrapped it, and we put out singles.” The announcement comes after rumours of a new album began swirling in July 2023 when the trio performed at Tomorrowland and teased their track ‘Ray Of Solar’. According to Steve, the group weren’t happy with the direction of the album, so they decided to abandon it. Steve goes on to say: “We’re always working on music, and when we feel like [what we have] is good enough, we’ll release it. As a creator, if you’re not feeling something, it’s not going to see daylight.”

Since their landmark performance at Tomorrowland in 2023 which marked their first time back together in 12 years, Swedish House Mafia have released two new singles; ‘Lioness’ (featuring Niki & The Dove), as well as ‘Finally’, a cover of the Kings of Tomorrow and Julie McKnight classic featuring Alicia Keys.

Even though the album won’t be released, they’re still working on a lot of new music together. Steve told Billboard; “There’s always a lot coming. We’ve made so much music over the past couple of years, so we’re just going to keep releasing records.”
