Ternion Sound, the dynamic electronic trio known for their boundary-pushing blend of dubstep and experimental bass, have announced that they will disband after 2025. The group, consisting of Jack Denney, Aric Okerman, and Andrew Hill, shared their decision in a heartfelt statement today. Reflecting on their seven-year journey, they expressed deep pride in what they’ve achieved together. As Hill and his partner prepare for the arrival of their first child in March, and with personal and professional priorities shifting, the trio has decided that the time has come to close this chapter of their musical career.
The roots of Ternion Sound can be traced back to a spontaneous collaboration at the 2016 Infrasound Music Festival in Minneapolis. What started as an impromptu DJ set between the three producers quickly grew into a partnership that would change the landscape of bass music. Known for their distinct sound, a fusion of dubstep with an experimental twist and a nod to the UK underground, the group quickly garnered attention and respect in the scene.
Their final year promises to be one of celebration and reflection, with the trio planning a farewell tour that will take them to some of their most notable venues and promoters. Fans can look forward to a tour flyer soon, marking the last live performances of a project that has inspired many.
“From the onset, we created Ternion Sound for specific reasons and we’ve tried to stay true to those the whole time: Playing on sound systems that honor the music, integrity in how we portray ourselves, education, sustainability, and freedom to explore compositionally inside of bass music,” – Ternion Sound via Instagram
