A fatal shooting occurred in the early hours of 9, January 2026 in Tulum, Mexico while Solomun was performing at Tehmplo Tulum. Quintana Roo police and authorities confirmed the shooting, and have stated that a homicide investigation is underway.
In a public statement, officials said a male was killed by gunshot wounds on a dirt road close to where the event was taking place. Authorities emphasized that the victim was not an attendee of the event, and was in fact a seasonal worker. They added that there was no risk to the safety of those participating in or attending the performance.
Authorities described the incident as a direct attack and confirmed that federal, state, and municipal law enforcement agencies are coordinating efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible.
