This year’s Wireless Festival has been officially cancelled after the UK Home Office denied entry to headliner Kanye West (now known as Ye). This marks another chapter in Ye’s turbulent relationship with the music industry and international stages. While his influence on hip-hop, fashion, and even electronic music production remains undeniable, repeated controversies have led to widespread professional repercussions.
Organisers announced the news on Tuesday via Instagram and their website, stating: “As a result of the Home Office banning Ye from entering the United Kingdom, Wireless Festival has been forced to cancel. All ticket holders will receive an automatic full refund.” The decision came less than an hour after the Home Office confirmed to the BBC that it had withdrawn Ye’s Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) application. Officials cited that his presence “would not be conducive to the public good.”
Wireless Festival, a fixture in the UK urban and hip-hop calendar, was set to take place over three days – July 10–12, 2026 – at Finsbury Park, London, with Ye booked to headline all three nights. The announcement in late March marked what would have been his first UK performances in over a decade since his 2015 Glastonbury headline set. 
The booking quickly sparked intense controversy due to Ye’s well-documented history of antisemitic, racist, and pro-Nazi remarks in recent years. Major sponsors, including Pepsi and alcohol giant Diageo (owners of brands like Captain Morgan and Johnnie Walker), pulled their support shortly after the lineup reveal. Politicians and advocacy groups also voiced strong opposition, putting pressure on both the festival promoter (Festival Republic / Live Nation) and the government.
Wireless has built a reputation as one of the UK’s premier urban music events, previously hosting acts like Drake (who headlined in 2025), Jay-Z, and others. For fans who had already purchased tickets, refunds will be processed automatically. No further dates or alternative lineups have been announced at this time.
