2019 has almost drawn to a close, but we’ve just been gifted one of the most unique collabs of the year. Forward thinking dubstep producer/DJ Dirt Monkey has teamed up with legendary MC Tech N9ne for an epic new collab “Shut Up.” Combining the hard-edged singular vocals of Tech N9ne with some old school UK-dubstep sounding production from Dirt Monkey, “Shut Up” is one of the most enjoyable bass tracks of the year.
It’s been a big 2019 for Dirt Monkey culminating with the release of his album Primatology this Friday. “Shut Up” will be one of the tracks on the album following a steady stream of releases this year. As for the venerable rapper Tech N9ne, he’s been doing his thing releasing his 21st studio album this year. One of the pioneers of the trap genre, it’s hard to imagine modern trap music without the gun-cock samples that Tech helped popularize. Interestingly this track is kind of a throwback, the drop is reminiscent of a 2012 Rusko track and the computer glitch noises also lend an old school feel. The sirens in the background along with Tech’s rhymes let you know you’re about to run the trap.
