Julian Jordan Goes Tech House with “Drop the Top”

Julian Jordan is back with another single, “Drop the Top” and this time he’s going underground incorporating some tech house elements into his latest track. This is Julian’s fifth single of 2021, so he’s had a pretty consistent output, and he’s shown the breadth of his production knowledge by dabbling in an array of styles. “Drop the Top” is probably most like his earlier single “The Box” with Will K, although “Drop the Top” has more of the droning tech-house rhythm to it.

The track opens up with some woozy synths in the background as some boastful R&B lyrics come in. Next, the beat and percussion come in, and you can’t just picture yourself in dark, dank club listening to this as some lights go off once the drop hits. The drop features a tech-y bassline along with some hi-hats to form the backbone of the rhythm. The vocals are almost rapped over the rhythm, but they provide a nice counterbalance to all the instrumental parts. Before you know it, you’re just dancing your ass off to this one.

Check out the latest from Julian Jordan, “Drop the Top” out now on STMPD.
