Portola somehow outdoes itself with second-year lineup: Skrillex, Eric Prydz HOLO, Flying Lotus, & more

Despite logistical issues, Portola emerges as phenomenal first year festival [Review]

Last year’s inaugural Portola Music Festival in San Francisco presented a brand new experience with one of the most top-tier lineups we’d seen in a long time. Even for a self-professed bass head like myself, the house and techno offerings were accessible enough that I enjoyed every single set I witness which included Flume, The Chemical Brothers, Jamie xx, Four Tet + Floating Points, Fred again.., Caribou, Bicep, Fatboy Slim, DJ Shadow, Kaytranada, James Blake, and more.

The biggest question in my mind as I headed home after the festival last year was: How are they going to top this next year? Turns out, I really had nothing to worry about. The lineup dropped yesterday and not only did they match the magic of last year’s lineup, in some ways, they also improved upon it.

Whereas Flume and The Chemical Brothers headlined the festival last year, Skrillex and Eric Prydz presents HOLO take the mantle for this iteration. Basement Jaxx, Chris Lake b2b Armand Van Helden, Rina Sawayama, Little Simz, Hot Chip, Underworld, FKJ, Polo and Pan, Labrinth and Major Lazer b2b Major Leagues DJz, SBTRKT, Little Dragon, Kenny Beats, 2manydjs (LIVE), Overmono, Flying Lotus, and more also perform. Plus, PORTOLA welcomes the return of Nelly Furtado, performing her first U.S. show since 2007!

Portola will be partnering with several community organizations for some exciting fan experiences, offers, and giveaways.

  • Tuesday, May 16 – Amoeba Records hosted an in-store giveaway of passes to PORTOLA 2023.

  • Tuesday, May 23 through Friday, June, 30 – Custom PORTOLA Chocolates will be available at Kokak Chocolates for pre-order, and one bar of chocolate from the preorder will include (2) VIP tickets to PORTOLA 2023.
