We caught up with acclaimed Dutch DJ and producer Sandro Silva, who recently unveiled his highly anticipated EP New Light. The EP marks a profound new chapter for Sandro on both a personal and creative level. Across six tracks Sandro wears his heart on his sleeve, as the EP is his most personal offering to date, as he channeled unfiltered emotion into each track, while also experimenting beyond his signature big room sound. Throughout the EP, listeners get to experience a softer and more intentional side of Sandro.
New Light features standout collaborations with the likes of Eva Simons, who delivered a masterful performance on ‘High On Life’. The EP also concludes with ‘Tomorrow Morning’ which is a cover of Brad Carter’s original version. This track rounds out the EP beautifully, as it holds a special place in Sandro’s memory and heart. The EP invites listeners to connect deeply with Sandro through his journey of clarity, musical exploration and renewed inspiration.
Congratulations on the release of your EP New Light! Can you tell us what this EP means to you on a personal and creative level? 
Thanks! I felt really inspired to do something different with this EP after a lot of changes happened in my personal life. Less touring and more studio time gave me the space to approach music in a different way. I put much more emotion into these songs — real feelings coming straight from my soul into every element of each track. This EP truly represents the direction I want to move in with my future projects.
What were the most rewarding and the most challenging parts of producing this EP?
It felt incredibly rewarding to create the impact of a festival record, but in a completely different way — with much more emotion and depth. One of the biggest challenges was stepping away from my familiar big room/club sound. I really had to search for a new sound that matched where I am in life right now. That meant experimenting a lot, questioning myself, and sometimes starting over. Finding the right songwriters and vocalists was also part of that challenge, but in the end everything came together perfectly and gave the EP the identity I was looking for.
You’ve mentioned that working with Eva Simons on ‘High On Life’ completed the vision of the EP. Can you tell us a bit more about how that track came together and its creative process?
Working with Eva was amazing and definitely something we’re going to do again soon. We already had the first version of the track ready together with a group of songwriters, and when Eva heard it, everything really clicked. She immediately went to the studio, brought her own magic, and finished the track. Her voice and style are truly unique, and that’s exactly what took the song to the next level. She gave ‘High On Life’ a character and energy that really completed the vision of the EP.

Aside from ‘High On Life’, are there any other tracks on the EP that you deeply resonate with and why?
I personally really love ‘Tomorrow Morning’. It’s a cover based on Brad Carter’s version, which I used to hear on Dutch TV on a music video channel called The Box more than 20 years ago. That song always stuck with me — the topline was very simple, but somehow really emotional. The way it was sung and the feeling behind it were the reasons I felt I had to remake it.
Do you see New Light influencing the sound of your future releases or projects?
Definitely. Like I mentioned before, this project really changed my vision for the future. My goal is to create music that’s as diverse as possible, without putting myself in a box. I want to work with artists that are new and inspiring to me, so I can create something truly magical instead of doing things in a systematic way.
What do you hope your fans will take away from this EP?
I really hope they see a side of me they haven’t seen before. This EP is about growth — both musically and personally — but also about finding clarity after darker or uncertain moments. If my music gives them motivation, hope, or just a moment where they truly connect with the music, then I’ve achieved my goal.
Are there any genres you’d love to experiment with next that you haven’t explored yet?
A lot! I really love R&B for example, so one of my goals is to create a song with someone who is doing really well in that genre.
At this stage in your life and career, what excites you the most about making music and performing?
These days, I only finish music if it connects with me on a deeper level. If that feeling isn’t there, I don’t force it. What really excites me is the moment a song is finished and everyone in my team and family feels the same energy and emotion when they hear it.
Can you tell us what else you have in store for 2026? Do you have any upcoming collaborations or performances your fans can look out for?
I have some really exciting new projects coming up, especially new single releases in the near future. So definitely keep an eye on my socials to be the first to hear what’s coming next 😉
