Australian DJ and producer Alison Wonderland swapped the stage for the pitch last week after being named stadium captain for Australia’s 2026 FIFA World Cup Group D fixture against Paraguay. Before kick-off at Levi’s Stadium on 26 June, the Ghost World artist had the honour of carrying the official match ball onto the field, representing her home nation on one of football’s biggest stages. The ceremonial role has become a growing tradition at this year’s tournament, with prominent figures from each competing nation helping mark the occasion ahead of kick-off.
Taking to Instagram after the match, Wonderland said it was “an honour and privilege” to carry the match ball onto the pitch for Australia’s clash with Paraguay, adding that being named stadium captain “has to be one of the top moments of my entire life” before signing off with, “Go the Roos.”
Wonderland isn’t the only electronic artist to make a surprise appearance at the tournament. Earlier in the week, Mochakk and Barry Can’t Swim were selected to carry the match ball ahead of Brazil’s meeting with Scotland, representing their respective nations as electronic music continues to make its mark on one of the world’s biggest sporting events.
