Yellow Claw drop vicious new album JESUS LOVES TRAP MUSIC

Hard-hitting Dutch duo Yellow Claw have returned with a massive new album, JESUS LOVES TRAP MUSIC.

Released on their label Barong Music, the 20 track album sees the globally-recognised duo return to the sound that made their careers explode in the first place. JESUS LOVES TRAP MUSIC is not only a celebration of trap, but also a celebration of the community that has really made the genre what it is today.

The album is like a full circle moment for Yellow Claw and features their signature high energy drops, explosive basslines, 808’s and chest-rattling sound design. Across the 20 tracks, the duo have revisited music that they didn’t finish in the past, while also sharing brand new music which features the likes of Yung Raja, 504icygrl, REXY=DEXY, ARMNHMR and RemK.

The opening track ‘Lucid’, which features the stunning vocals of Aida Sofia, is a beautiful entry-point into the chaos and wonder of the tracks which follow. Produced with an air of restraint, yet still holding a powerful punch, ‘Lucid’ is a compelling foundation for the rest of the album. ‘Keep Your Hands Up’ is another stand out track on the album, which features ARMNHMR and nmgKeymo. The track begins as a fully-fledged trap number with rap vocals and a striking beat, however the latter half of the track switches up into a ferocious hardstyle beat before reverting back to trap, showcasing the duo’s incredible dynamism. ‘Killing It’ featuring Yung Raja, is another rap-inspired trap statement built for peak time tomfoolery, while Trap Anthem’ sees Yellow Claw create a dystopian, frenzied soundscape that holds the nostalgia of the 2014 trap music era, while the closing track ‘LSD (VIP)’ featuring Syaqish ends the project in a hauntingly memorable manner.

Jim, one half of Yellow Claw says the album acts almost like a musical diary; “I still really believe in the idea of sharing a body of work with the fans that have been with us for so long. That is somehow how we communicate with them, like here are 20 songs that we have been working on lately, it’s the vibe we have been in, almost like a musical diary. I know everything is vlogs and TikTok and funny videos now, but this is how we do it. If the next 6 months our vibe is German schlager music, expect us to drop 10 brand new tracks that make you go and iron your brown short leather pants like you’ve got a bratwurst in the pan that’s ready to go.”

While Nils said each track has the potential to be played live; “Had a lot of fun working on a big project again. 20 records and we could play each and everyone of them in a DJ set. The idea for a full on trap album came after we started playing a lot of older trap records again and we found out that those songs stood the test of time. It inspired us. Both the impact of the songs from 2014/2015 and the memories people and ourselves treasure to the genre. We went to work. Some older songs we never finished even found their way into the project.”
