BBX and Drumanite have reunited for a full-blown nostalgia hit with ‘Twenty Fifteen’ a high-energy throwback that revisits the exact moment their creative partnership first sparked, channeling the raw, formative spirit of mid-2010s dubstep that defined them both: The artists said; “Back then, the music wasn’t about being the most technical or polished. It was big drops, wild energy, and personality. It felt reckless and fun in the best way.”
Released as a sonic time capsule, the track marks the year the duo first connected – a defining moment when brostep dominated with towering drops, gritty attitude, and unrestrained intensity. Rather than leaning into today’s ultra-refined sound, ‘Twenty Fifteen’ leans into that era’s sound: punchy base , trap inspired rhythms , and a third drop that really drives things forward. Building tension before allowing it to hit. “We wanted to reconnect with that earlier spirit… loud, bold, unapologetic,” the artists shared.
To stay true to their vision, the paid dug deep into their roots during production. Pre-recorded sounds, Vengeance sample packs, and the legendary Massive synth, blending those old school sounds with the precision and skills they have gathered over the years. The result is a modernised “love letter” to 2015-2017 dubstep: familiar enough to trigger that nostalgic nerve, but fresh enough to knock on today’s sound systems.
During production, one of the standout elements is the live drumming layered into the track. It is carried over into their live set too, with strike pads and and hybrid DJ percussion moments that bring real energy to the stage – making each performance feel like a full circle moment in terms of the relationship they share and how far they have come.
