Acclaimed Icelandic singer-songwriter Björk has officially confirmed that her next studio album will arrive in 2027. The announcement came via an Instagram post on April 13, 2026, where she clarified details around her upcoming exhibition to address fan speculation about a possible album title.
The artist explained that ‘echolalia’ is not the name of her forthcoming record, but rather the umbrella title for her immersive exhibition at Listasafn Íslands (the National Gallery of Iceland), running from May to September 2026. The show will include an “echolalia rave” event during the total eclipse summer, featuring performances by Arca, Sideproject, and Ronja Jóhannsdóttir. A version of a brand-new song, described as a collaboration with two incredible artists she plans to reveal later, will be presented in the exhibition alongside tracks ‘Ancestress’ and ‘Sorrowess’ from her 2022 album Fossora. Björk emphasized that only a version of the song will appear now, with the final instrumentation reserved for the 2027 album.
In her statement, Björk noted the longer creative timeline: “I know it is a long time, but five years passed between my last two albums and I enjoyed that enormously. I seem to spend longer every time in the world-building and it is extremely satisfying to align all the different elements (how equilibrium of me).” This will mark her first full album since ‘Fossora’ in 2022. Fans will get an early taste of the new material through the exhibition, but the complete work is still in active development.
